GarageGames has become famous for being a provider of resources for independent game developers. With the release of the Tribes engine as the Torque Game Engine, they got a flood of developers willing to use it for their games. Then they came up with the Torque Game Builder, based on the Torque Game Engine.
The Game Builder is basically a series of tools that can help you create 2D games, such as platform games. The games you create in here can be played in Windows, Mac, Xbox 360, Wii, iPhone and web applications. Although it is easy for beginners to get started with it, you need to know what you are doing at some point. You also get the source code of the Builder, which can be helpful to use other tools along with the builder. The GarageGames website has a lot of members and you can find a solution to your problems either in the forums or with their own support. It would be very helpful if you know programming, though they use a scripting language which is easy to understand. It is really a great tool for starters to make 2D games with a lot of graphic power and resources. |
